The American Cinematheque's Alternative Screen is pleased to present the first three nights of RESFEST 2000, Los Angeles at the Egyptian Theatre. This festival will also take place at other venues. Wednesday, November 1 / 8:00 PM
RESFEST SHORTS (84 min.)
The hallmark of this year's shorts program is convergence, and we donıt mean it in the oft-repeated prescriptive that all media are converging. Instead, we mean that filmmakers are transforming the everyday world into wildly diverse and exotic netherworlds that are somehow part real and part construct. The program features 23 eclectic shorts including many premieres.
This program will be repeated on Friday, Nov. 3 at 8:00 PM.

Thursday, November 2 / 8:00 PM
LONG SHORTS (77 min.) Five new digital shorts: "Falling," Aaron Rhodes' short doc chronicles the extraordinary and comic story of the now notorious Rolf Gibbs in the process of making his film "G" (also shown here); Tommy Pallotta and Bob Sabiston latest slice-of-life portraits, "Figures of Speech," each of which melds personal revelation with wildly diverse animation styles; "This Guy is Falling," Michael Horowitz and Gareth Smith's spectacular take on a sudden loss of gravity; and Joan Raspo's Avenue Amy, a humorous look at the trials and tribulations of dating.

Friday, November 3 / 8:00 PM
RESFEST SHORTS (84 min.) [Repeat Program from Nov. 1st]

The previously announced WAVE TWISTERS will screen at the DGA on November 5th at 8:00 PM. This program will screen in its place. For more information see the www.resfest.com.

Friday, November 3 / 10:00 PM
CINEMA ELECTRONICA (80 min.)
Founded in response to the growing number of music videos produced specifically for electronic music, the often sublime collision between "cinema" and "electronica" this year results in a startling tour through the 20th centuryıs media archives as artists brazenly borrow and recombine materials and styles from all corners of the past. Twenty-two videos for artists including Underworld, Moby, Leftfield, Alex Gopher and Handsome Boy Modeling School.
