MARCH 15, 2001  / 7:30 pm

Join us for our annual look at some of the finest queer short films of the last year, including a couple of Los Angeles premieres. This year's selections, co-presented with Outfest, address issues ranging from rarely seen Asian male passion to lesbian one night stands to teenage romantic infatuation to the dilemma of being born intersex.

Wayne Yung's "Field Guide to Western Wildflowers" (6 min.) Sixty-three men kiss while a kaleidoscope of images pulses behind their passion. John Dasbach's "Bedtime Stories" (15 min.) Three couples work out their relationship kinks; both in and out of the sack! Laleh Soomekh & Porter Gale's "XXXY" (13 min.) In this eye-opening documentary, two intersex individuals share their experience of being "assigned" a gender as children born with ambiguous genders. L.A. Premiere! Phillip J. Bartell's "Crush" (28 min.) A lovely, sweetly told tale of teenage love and infatuation and the unexpected new heights achieved. Carla Drago's "Above The Dust Level" (9 min.) A comic Aussie romp featuring hypochondriacs, belligerent neighbors and vanishing underpants. Lea Morement's & Samantha Bakhurst's "4 p.m." (15 min.) Sophisticated, funny look at a woman's one night stand that doesn't quite end as planned. Sneak Preview! Glenn Gaylord's "Boychick" (12 min.) I haven't seen, you haven't seen, that's who hasn't seen this film. It's brand new, ok? From the director of last year's pointed "Lost Cause" short in Queer Shorts/2000. You don't have to be gay, Jewish or a pop star-loving teenager to love this film.... but it wouldn't hurt! Between a boy and a chick.... BOYCHICK!

Q & A to follow with filmmakers Phillip J. Bartell ("Crush") & Glenn Gaylord ("Boychick") with more possibly to be announced!
