| "The
festival slogan, "By filmmakers, for filmmakers," is not a superficial mantra,
but a true ideology that has steadfastly maintained by festival co-founders Peter
Baxter, Dan Mirvish and Paul Rachman... There's hardly another festival
where the staff and filmmakers are of such a similar mindset -- they want to make you
aware of their films, but they don't try to force them on you -- Slamdance is about
discovering films for yourself. Not yet a teenager, it has already produced a series of
real finds, like Christopher Nolan's "Following," Monteith
McCollum's "Hybrid" and Larry Fessenden's "Wendigo."

If you didn’t make the trek to the snow-capped peaks of Park City, Utah for the 8th annual Slamdance International Film Festival – or simply couldn’t see EVERYTHING while you were there– you’ll have two nights at the Egyptian to catch up with festival winners. Fresh from the January 17th award ceremony, we’ll bring you the Audience Award winning short and feature; the Grand Jury selections; "Best Documentary" and various other prize-winners from the 2002 festival. Schedules permitting, filmmakers, still clutching their coveted "Sparky" award statuettes, will appear with their films. Winners will be announced at www.slamdance.com by Jan. 20th. The exact screening schedule will be available here or at 323.466.FILM by Jan. 25th. Please note that we will be adding an additional Best Of Night on Wed., March 27 to finish showing the award winners. Discussion following with filmmakers subject to availability. GRAND JURY PRIZE FOR BEST DRAMATIC FEATURE Gorlin turns our expectations of the "Holy Land" 360 degrees with his dramatic tale of a young rabbinical student goes to Israel in search of experience and falls for a Russian prostitute. With GRAND JURY AWARD WINNER FOR BEST SHORT NARRATIVE "Lurch" (20 min., Germany) directed by Boris Hars-Tschachotin. KODAK VISION AWARD FOR BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY. 21-year-old Marcin is forced to give his life a new meaning and direction after the death of his father and his girlfriend's planned departure to the US. Hunger Artist" (16 min., USA) directed by Tom Gibbons. Stop-motion animation
tells the Franz Kafka story about a performer whose art consists of denying himself
