MOVIES NOT ON VIDEO
DUSTY AND SWEETS MCGEE, 1971,
Warner Bros., 91 min. This rarely-screened, stunningly natural docu-drama from director Floyd
Mutrux (AMERICAN HOT WAX) on real-life junkies in Los Angeles at the beginning of the
1970s received critical acclaim but poor box office when it was overshadowed by the
coincidental release of the higher profile PANIC IN NEEDLE PARK. Shot in cinema verite
style by D.P. William Fraker (ROSEMARYS BABY), who appears on-screen as
"The Cellist," the film was so convincing that many audience members erroneously
believed that the one professional actor in the cast, Billy Gray (from TVs
"Father Knows Best"), was a real-life addict. Simultaneously funny and tragic,
the film is also an evocative portrait of a Los Angeles since disappeared. Discussion following with director Floyd Mutrux,
actor Billy Gray, cinematographer /actor William Fraker and editor
Richard A. Harris.

AMERICAN MASTERS - HANK WILLIAMS: HONKY TONK BLUES, 2004,
Tremolo Prod., American Masters, WNET, Nashville Public Television, and BBC., 81
min. Arguably the most admired and influential performer in the history of country music,
singer/songwriter Hank Williams died on New Years Day 1953, in the back of a
powder-blue Cadillac, leaving behind such classic tunes as "Hey Good
Lookin," "Cold Cold Heart," "Jambalaya," "Im So
Lonesome I Could Cry" and "I Saw The Light." This superb, definitive new
documentary from director/writer Morgan Neville ("Sam Phillips: The Man Who Invented
RocknRoll," "Brian Wilson: A Beach Boys Tale") features

HOUSE, 2004, 95 min., USA. Director Dan Mirvish. In this ensemble musical
comedy the lives of home buyers, sellers and realtors unravel at a Sunday open house.
Anthony Rapp (Rent on Broadway), Sally Kellerman James Duval (DONNIE DARKO)
Kellie Martin (E.R.), Ann Magnuson, Jerry Doyle, Ian Whitcomb and others dance

Safe House Of Love are performed with such sincerity that youll never
look at escrow the same way again! ...a funny, fast paced and above all very unique
film. -- FilmThreat.com
"Super cast: Kellie Martin
scores as a yuppie fond of quickie sex in strange houses; Sally Kellerman, as a boozy,
unsuccessful agent, delivers a torchy realtor's lament; and Ann Magnuson shows up very
late and nearly walks off with the whole movie." -- Baltimore City Paper

Discussion & finger sandwiches following with
director Dan Mirvish (Slamdance Film Festival Co-Founder and director of OMAHA: THE MOVIE)
and cast and crew.

Special Sneak Preview:
SEDUCING DR. LEWIS, 2003, Wellspring, 109
min. Dir. Jean-Francois Pouliot. In the delightful comic vein of LOCAL HERO and
WAKING NED DEVINE, SEDUCING DR. LEWIS is a beguiling story of a ragtag fishing community
on a tiny, impoverished Canadian island who must persuade a young Montreal-based doctor
(David Boutin) to live in their town in order to get a much-needed new factory. Over a
one-month trial period, the villagers try to satisfy his every need and convince him that
their town offers all the charms of a thriving metropolis. Led by their mayor, Germain
Lesage (Raymond Bouchard), the villagers rise to the challenge with good-hearted
duplicity. However, as their deception continues, it becomes increasingly difficult to
maintain. Just as Doctor Lewis begins to respond to the simple "authenticity" of
the village, the question arises: how will he feel when he finds out its based on
lies? Official selection of the Sundance, Cannes and Toronto Film Festivals. In
French-Canada, it grossed over eight million dollars, topping even THE LORD OF THE RINGS.
It went on to be nominated for 13 Jutra Awards (French-Canadas Oscar), winning
seven, and recently was nominated for 11 Genie Awards (Canadian Oscars). [SEDUCING DR.
LEWIS will be released theatrically by Wellspring in early July.]

MEMORIAL TRIBUTE TO ACTRESS PAMELA GORDON (1937-2003)
L.A.-based actress Pamela Gordon was a seminal figure on stage, television and the big
screen. We are proud to honor Ms. Gordons final roles in film, both leads
something of a rarity for an actress in her sixties, but fitting for the conclusion of Ms.
Gordons remarkable career. The filmmakers and several colleagues will talk about
Ms. Gordon in a post-screening discussion.
THE TECHNICAL WRITER, 2003, 96 min. Dir.
Scott Saunders. Pamela Gordon co-stars with Academy Award winner Tatum ONeal in this
raw, strange tale of a middle-aged, repressed agoraphobic, Jessup (Michael Harris), who
has checked out of the human race long ago only to be transformed in the most
peculiar and perverse ways by his enigmatic New York City neighbors. In her last screen
appearance, Ms. Gordon blossoms once again by playing Jessups terminally-ill
neighbor Camille a contemporary Dumas-like heroine; a radiant swan, filled with the
pain of a tragic illness but still shimmering with moments of vitality and the hope of
human connection.
THE DOGWALKER, 2002, 99 min. Dir. Jacques
Thelemaque. Los Angeles provides the backdrop for this colorful movie about a young woman,
Ellie (Diane Gaidry), who is damaged goods and on the run. Enter Betsy Wright (Pamela
Gordon), a misanthropic dog-walker in need of help with her business. Despite their age
difference, these two women find a way to mirror and move their lonely, complex souls into
the future. Plus the short film: "Might as
Well Be Swing," 2000, 24 min. Dir. AJ Schnack (GIGANTIC: A TALE OF TWO
JOHNS). Funny, sexy short about two swinging couples who encounter Ms. Gordons
character in their travels to a desert resort. Discussion
following with directors Jacques Thelemaque, Scott Saunders and AJ Schnack, plus actors
Diane Gaidry (THE DOGWALKER) & Michael Harris (THE TECHNICAL WRITER).
