The seventh annual Argentina: New Cinema returns with another impressive lineup of Los
Angeles premieres. Opening the series is Argentina's official Oscar submission, Juan Jose
Campanellas thriller THE SECRET IN HER EYES. Join us Saturday, November 21, for
MUSIC ON HOLD, a fresh and hilarious comedy produced by Daniel Burman, followed by the
recently released blockbuster QUESTION OF PRINCIPLES, directed by Rodrigo Grande from a
screenplay by Roberto Fontanarrosa. Also unspooling: Lucas Blanco's opera prima
TRANSIT LOVE, a fresh story of people who flee and others who return in an endless search
for their destiny; drama THE FISH CHILD, from XXY director Lucía Puenzo; and Inés
Brauns crowd-pleasing romantic comedy LOVE BY ACCIDENT.

Los Angeles Premiere! THE SECRET IN THEIR EYES (EL SECRETO DE SUS
OJOS), 2009, Latido, 120 min. Dir. Juan Jose Campanella. Benjamin, a retired court
employee, decides to write a book about an old rape/murder case that he believes wasn't
properly solved. He becomes determined to find the real culprit and reopen the case - a
complicated and thrilling quest that director Juan Jose Campanella depicts with a style

Producciones, 110 min. Dir. Lucas Blanco. In Buenos Aires, Mercedes takes the necessary
steps that get her to Barcelona and the boyfriend waiting there for her. By coincidence,
she stumbles onto Ariel, who turns out to be pleasant (and confusing) company. Meanwhile,
Juan arrives in Argentina after many years away and gets to know Micaela, who, abandoned

Double Feature: Los Angeles Premiere!
MUSIC ON HOLD (MUSIC EN ESPERA), 2009, Outsider Pictures,
106 min. Dir. Hernán A. Golfrid. Two opposites - blocked composer Ezequiel and unwed
pregnant bank executive Paula - are drawn together when Ezequiel finds inspiration in a
piece of music he hears while on hold with the bank where Paula works. He needs the music,
and Paula needs a guy to pass off as her boyfriend to her visiting mother. What ensues is
one of the most delightful pairings in recent cinema. Discussion

Carnivale. Anita has most of the features of Down Syndrome, a condition effecting roughly
1 per 800 to 1,000 children from birth. Anita lives a happy life, lovingly cared for by
her mother (Norma Aleandro), who runs a small stationery store in a Jewish neighborhood in
Buenos Aires neighborhood known as "Once." One day, Anitas mother goes out
to cash a subsidy check she uses to care for Anita and never returns

Lucía Puenzo. Writer-director Lucía Puenzo follows her 2007 Cannes triumph XXY with this
new thriller that examines the social and economic structure of Buenos Aires, from the
wealthy suburbs to the poverty-stricken city. Lala, the privileged daughter of a powerful
local judge, falls in love with the family's Paraguayan maid. The young women carry on a
secret affair and plan their escape from Buenos Aires - an escape that proves complicated
when Lala's dad is killed and her girlfriend is arrested for the crime. Trailer
Los Angeles Premiere! LOVE BY ACCIDENT (LA RONDA), 2008, Tresplanos Cine, 94
min. Dir. Inés Braun. At the La Ronda bar, employees and patrons fall in and out of love
in six romantic stories, all set to a spectacular global soundtrack that features both
