An In-Person Tribute to Actress and Author Jamie Lee Curtis

This is an Aero Theatre Exclusive!

Actress and best-selling children’s author Jamie Lee Curtis first caught American moviegoers' attention in John Carpenter's 1978 landmark horror film HALLOWEEN, playing nimble-minded, gutsy teen Laurie Strode, who must match wits (and blades) with neighborhood terror Mike Myers. Showing impressive versatility, Curtis was able to expand her early work in the horror arena into a career that has encompassed a wide variety of genres and roles, including her funny, sexy turn as a seductive con artist in A FISH CALLED WANDA and her Golden Globe-winning performance opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger in the action-comedy TRUE LIES. Curtis also has proved delightfully game in ‘tween fare such as the 2003 re-make of FREAKY FRIDAY in which she endearingly takes on the dual role of an organized workaholic and a flaky adolescent.

Please join us for an in-person weekend tribute to the career of Jamie Lee Curtis, which also includes a screening of THE FOG and a signing of her new children’s book My Mommy Hung the Moon.

Friday, October 15 – 7:30 PM

Double Feature: HALLOWEEN, 1978, 91 min. Dir. John Carpenter. Jamie Lee Curtis (in her first major role) stars as the resilient Laurie, who’s aware that evil stalks the shady streets and living rooms of her small town, in the form of escaped psychopath Michael Myers. Trailer

THE FOG, 1980, Stuart Lisell, 91 min. Dir. John Carpenter. There’s atmosphere to burn in this spooky saga of bloodthirsty ghost pirates vengefully returning to decimate a sleepy California coastal town on the 100th anniversary of their shipwreck. Adrienne Barbeau is the spunky DJ sounding the alarm from her lighthouse-based radio station while the undead use the title mist as cover in their gory siege. With Jamie Lee Curtis. Saturday, October 16 – 2:00 PM

Family Matinee! Fundraising for Santa Monica/Malibu School District: FREAKY FRIDAY, 2003, Buena Vista Pictures, 97 min. An equally delightful Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan star in this spunky re-make about a mother-daughter mixed-up identity crisis! Curtis is Tess, an organized if overworked psychologist who accidentally swaps bodies with her daughter (Lohan), who is in the midst of haphazard teen rebellion. Mark Waters (MEAN GIRLS) directs. All ticket prices $10. Part of the proceeds will be donated to Santa Monica/Malibu School District to go toward arts education. From 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM, Jamie Lee Curtis reads from her new children's book, My Mommy Hung the Moon, and signs all of her books at Every Picture Tells A Story's new location, 1333 Montana Avenue. Discussion following the film with actress Jamie Lee Curtis. Trailer | Buy Tickets

Saturday, October 16 – 7:30 PM

Double Feature: A FISH CALLED WANDA, 1988, MGM Repertory, 108 min. A tale of murder, lust, greed, revenge…and seafood! Ealing great Charles Crichton directs John Cleese, Jamie Lee Curtis and Kevin Kline in his Oscar-winning performance. The best slapstick comedy this side of the Marx Brothers. Trailer

TRUE LIES, 1994, 20th Century Fox, 141 min. Buff secret-agent Arnold Schwarzenegger finds himself back-pedaling to save his marriage to wife Jamie Lee Curtis. It’s hard to imagine a 70mm comedy with rocket-launchers, but TRUE LIES is it. Discussion following with actress Jamie Lee Curtis. Trailer | Buy Tickets
