Covid-19 Safety and Procedures

The American Cinematheque will continue to evolve its safety policies and procedures. Please continue to check back to this page for frequent updates.

Your health and safety, in addition to that of our employees, remains our highest priority.

General Guidelines

  • Stay home if you feel sick. If you’re coughing, sneezing, feel a tickle in your throat or think you might have been exposed, don’t risk it.
  • All American Cinematheque screenings and events are vaccinated-only (11/2/21 – see more info below).
  • Masking Indoors is Optional for Fully Vaccinated Individuals (beginning 2/25/22)
  • WASH YOUR HANDS! Frequently.
  • Hand sanitizer stations are positioned throughout the theatres including all building entrances and other high-traffic areas and filled regularly.


All American Cinematheque screenings and live events are Vaccinated-Only:

  • Attendees (ages 18+) need to present at the theatres a proof of vaccination and matching photo ID for entry. Last vaccination must be recorded as 2 weeks prior to the event. Physical vaccine cards or digital proof of vaccination are acceptable.
  • Reasonable accommodations will be provided to those needing it for religious or medical reasons with proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test, taken within 72 hours of the screening. Additionally, they will need to sign and present a Vaccine Declination Form. Seating & Capacity

  • All seating is unreserved (updated July 2021)
  • Please respect and be mindful of other patrons as you enter and exit the theatre.


  • Our full concessions offerings of freshly popped popcorn, soda fountain, candy and snacks will be available for purchase.

Sanitation & Cleaning

  • Please take advantage of the available hand sanitizer stations throughout the theatre.
  • There is a daily thorough cleaning of bathrooms, concession stand, lobby and a static sprayer for cleaning the theatres.
  • iWave ionizer for improved air filtration, circulation and purification.

Employee Screening & Testing

  • Employees with temperatures above the CDC or state/local threshold will not be permitted to work or return to work until they show no symptoms and are feeling better.
  • Every day before they begin working, we’ll ask our team members if they have experienced symptoms of COVID-19 or been in close contact with someone who has tested positive or presumed positive with COVID-19.
