Covid-19 Safety and Procedures

The American Cinematheque is closely monitoring the guidelines issued by LA County and will continue to evolve our safety protocols. Your health and safety, in addition to that of our employees, remains our highest priority. Check back to this page for updates.

General Guidelines

  • Stay home if you feel sick. If you’re coughing, sneezing, feel a tickle in your throat or think you might have been exposed, don’t risk it.
  • You must wear a mask at all times while inside the common spaces and auditoriums, unless actively eating or drinking while seated. If you forget your mask, we will provide you with one.
  • WASH YOUR HANDS! Frequently.
  • Hand sanitizer stations are positioned throughout the theatres including all building entrances and other high-traffic areas and filled regularly.

As of November 2, 2021 all American Cinematheque screenings and live events are Vaccinated-Only:

  • Attendees (ages 18+) need to present both proof of vaccination and a valid ID at the theatre to be admitted into the event. (Last vaccination must be recorded as 2 weeks prior to the event). Physical vaccine cards or digital proof of vaccination are acceptable.
  • Reasonable accommodations will be provided to those needing it for religious or medical reasons with proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test, taken within 72 hours of the screening. Additionally, they will need to sign and present a Vaccine Declination Form. For those requiring Medical accommodations, they will need to present both the Vaccine Declination Form as well as a written statement signed by a physician, nurse practitioner, or other licensed medical professional practicing under the license of a physician, stating that they qualify for the exemption.
