ABOUT THE SERIES: It is with a heavy heart that the American Cinematheque pays tribute to acclaimed actor Diane Ladd, whose celebrated career has shaped generations of storytelling and continues to inspire audiences and artists alike. A prominent figure of the New Hollywood movement, Ladd left an indelible mark on era-defining films, including the neo-noir behemoth CHINATOWN and the deeply moving ALICE DOESN’T LIVE HERE ANYMORE; the latter earning the actor her first Academy Award nomination for her role as the acerbic yet affectionate waitress Flo. She shared the silver screen with her daughter and fellow actor Laura Dern in the Palme d’Or winning WILD AT HEART, the nightmarish INLAND EMPIRE and the period drama RAMBLING ROSE, which garnered both mother and daughter Academy Award nominations.
