ABOUT THE FILM What starts out as a girls’ weekend getaway in the Mojave Desert for three friends will descend into a battle for survival with the arrival of an invasive alien force that’ll sap their very will as it proceeds with its agenda—conquering the world. Sam Walker’s feature debut is the kind of ‘midnight’ movie programmers can only dream of. With an incredible trio of leading actors, THE SEED riffs on the alien invasion genre with the kind of verve and eye that only someone with a true love for the genre can demonstrate. Add to the mix perhaps the gnarliest practical VFX since Peter Jackson’s early movies and what you have is an unholy concoction worthy of immediate entry to the pantheon of great horror cinema. Lucy Martin, Sophie Vavasseur, and Chelsea Edge are Deidre, Heather, and Charlotte—lifelong friends who are finally getting some time away together whilst using the upcoming meteor shower to gather more followers for their respective social media channels. However, what none of them anticipates during their weekend of R&R is a party-crashing extraterrestrial surprise amongst the meteors, whose air of mystery soon proves to be alluring and irresistible to the young women. Before long the situation devolves into a battle to the death, where the stakes have galaxy-wide implications.
