ABOUT THE FILM:
Amidst the 1900 US occupation of the Philippines, American soldiers establish themselves in a rural village, necessitating negotiation with the locals. Led by the respected elder “Amigo,” the villagers grapple with foreign rules and tentative democracy. Concurrently, they navigate a strained relationship with a rebel group opposing the occupation. Complicating matters, Amigo’s brother leads the rebels, and his son joins, forcing Amigo into a constant struggle between the village’s welfare and his family’s ties to the resistance.
