ABOUT THE FILM: As Fiona (Julie Christie) begins to develop Alzheimer’s she is moved into a nursing home where her marriage to Grant (Gordon Pinsent) is tested as she loses her memory and becomes close to another nursing home resident. Based off of Alice Munro’s short story, “The Bear Came Over the Mountain,” director Sarah Polley creates an honest and compassionate look at the effects of dementia on an older couple’s relationship.
