Veteran comedian Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) has blazed a trail through the male-dominated stand-up scene for decades, landing herself a prime Las Vegas residency, a successful brand of luxury items, and lucrative endorsements. After Deborah’s manager Jimmy (Paul W. Downs) sets her up with another one of his clients – outcast twenty-something television writer Ava (Hannah Einbinder) – to overhaul her material, the pair must find a way to put aside their differences to save their careers.
