ABOUT THE FILM
A young Texan (Laurence Harvey) leaves his depression-ravaged town for New Orleans in search of his lost love (Capucine) in this simmering adaptation of the Nelson Algren novel. Jane Fonda, Barbara Stanwyck and Anne Baxter lead a top-notch supporting cast. The film also boasts an Oscar-nominated title song (by Elmer Bernstein and Mack David), as well as one of Saul Bass’ most distinctive credit sequences, following a black cat as it prowls the French Quarter.
