ABOUT THE SERIES: The American Cinematheque is pleased to welcome highly acclaimed, Academy Award–nominated filmmaker Ildikó Enyedi in-person in celebration of her latest film SILENT FRIEND, starring Tony Leung and Léa Seydoux, a moving meditation on the transcendent relationship between three individuals and one long-suffering companion, a centuries old gingko tree. The series also pays tribute to Enyedi’s remarkable career, including her first feature length film, MY TWENTIETH CENTURY, a twisted fairy tale for which Enyedi received a Golden Camera from the Cannes Film Festival in 1989. In 2017, Enyedi returned full force with the exceptional ON BODY AND SOUL, a romantic drama that delves into the power of the subconscious, earning Enyedi an Academy Award nomination and the Golden Bear in Berlin.
