March 14 - April 11, 2026 Starring Catherine O'Hara Series | FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION, A MIGHTY WIND, WAITING FOR GUFFMAN, AFTER HOURS, THE PAPER, BEETLEJUICE More screenings to be announced
ABOUT THE SERIES: It is with a heavy heart that the American Cinematheque remembers the life work of beloved comedy legend Catherine O’Hara. A captivating screen presence since the ‘70s, O’Hara elevated any scene she was in with her impeccable comedic timing and brilliant eccentricity. We welcome you to join us as we commemorate the charm and irresistible joy that this multidimensional talent imparted on generations of moviegoers. Our tribute kicks off on Oscars weekend with two of O’Hara’s iconic collaborations with comedy and mockumentary maestro Christopher Guest: the awards season satire FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION and folk band mockumentary A MIGHTY WIND in which O’Hara shows off her singing chops. The series continues with Guest’s small town musical theater romp WAITING FOR GUFFMAN starring O’Hara and Fred Willard as an ambitious married couple cast as the leads of a chaotic theatrical production. We round out the commemoration with O’Hara as Gail, the Mr. Softee ice cream vendor in Martin Scorsese’s cult classic AFTER HOURS, Ron Howard’s newsroom-set comedy THE PAPER and Tim Burton’s offbeat banger BEETLEJUICE.
