ABOUT THE FESTIVAL:

American Cinematheque is expanding ‘Bleak Week: Cinema of Despair’ beyond Los Angeles to 73 cities and nearly 100 theaters across the United States and Puerto Rico, Canada, England, Scotland, Mexico, Uruguay, Argentina and Chile.

Internationally, ‘Bleak Week’ will expand to renowned Canadian venues including Globe Cinema (Calgary, AB); Metro Cinema (Edmonton, AB); The Screening Room Movie Theatre (Kingston, ON); Cinéma du Parc, Cinéma Beaubien and Cinéma du Musée (Montreal, QC); ByTowne Cinema (Ottawa, ON); Revue Cinema (Toronto, ON); Park Theatre (Vancouver, BC); and Dave Barber Cinematheque (Winnipeg, MB). In the United Kingdom, the festival will take place at the Prince Charles Cinema (London, UK), who will also be co-presenting ‘Bleak Week’ at Watershed (Bristol, UK); Filmhouse (Edinburgh, UK); Glasgow Film Theatre (Glasgow, UK); Hyde Park Picture House (Leeds, UK); Tyneside Cinema (Newcastle, UK); and The Ultimate Picture Palace (Oxford, UK).

In Latin America, venues include Caligari at Cine Gaumont and Caligari at Malba, the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (Buenos Aires, Argentina); Cinemateca Uruguaya (Montevideo, Uruguay); Cineteca de la Universidad de Chile (Santiago, Chile); and Cineteca Universidad de Guadalajara (Guadalajara, Mexico).
