ABOUT THE FILM:

In German with English subtitles.

A small Bavarian village is renowned for its “Ruby Glass” glass-blowing works. When the foreman of the works dies suddenly without revealing the secret of the Ruby Glass, no one is able to replicate it and the town slides into a deep depression. The owner of the glassworks becomes obsessed with the lost method, and will stop at nothing to unlock the mystery. Forever the innovator, Werner Herzog famously had the entire cast of this film genuinely hypnotized so he could create a unique and dreamlike feature. His plan worked; HEART OF GLASS is truly unlike any other cinematic experience, a singular standout even among Herzog’s stunning filmography.
