ABOUT THE FILM: In French with English subtitles. Between a script and a film, there is a whole territory to cross. LES ANNÉES 80 is the time spent in this territory. A love battle with reality and its elements: actors, singers and dancers bound and constrained by a story in a set under a light crossed by music. How, between the script (which is always unrepresentable) and its future performance, the different elements of reality gradually come together to make a film. How to turn reality into fiction. We shot 40 hours of ¾-inch video with 4 different cameras. We edited this into a one-hour film in which only the actors who would be taking part in GOLDEN EIGHTIES appeared. We then transferred this cut to 1-inch film which we transferred to a 16mm negative from which we printed a 35mm positive (without using an internegative).
