Ever since she was a baby and her birth mother took her own life, Avital Ash has felt summoned to the other side. But she’d hate to be called a copycat, plus, who wants to turn into their mother? Ash’s critically acclaimed solo show was filmed live at The Elysian Theater in Los Angeles and explores depression, growing up an Orthodox Jew, queer identity and generational Holocaust trauma, all while being hilarious. The results are an irreverent show where Avital expertly bounces from black humor to jokes so stupid you almost miss the gospel in them.
