ABOUT THE FILM: KON-TIKI dramatizes the 1947 expedition of Norwegian ethnographer Thor Heyerdahl and his compatriots, who set out to disprove the prevailing Eurocentric theory of Polynesia’s settlement by sailing from South America to the South Pacific using only primitive methods. Battling storms, underwater threats, and equipment failure, Thor completes the 4,300-mile trip and dedicates his life to studying the area’s indigenous history.
