“Sr.”, AMERICAN MOVIE
Home / A Tribute to Chris Smith
The American Cinematheque is proud to welcome filmmaker Chris Smith in person at the Los Feliz 3 for his new film, “Sr.”, a moving documentary chronicling the life of outlaw director Robert Downey, Sr., his trailblazing filmography, and his relationship with son Robert Downey, Jr. The film takes place over three years as Downey, Sr. reflects on his life and work.
Chris Smith was awarded the “Someone To Watch” prize at the 1996 Independent Spirit Awards for his graduate school film, AMERICAN JOB. His breakthrough film was AMERICAN MOVIE, detailing the production of the late Mark Borchardt’s short horror film COVEN, and he has since garnered acclaim for titles such as JIM & ANDY: THE GREAT BEYOND and FYRE.
Chris Smith joins us in person for a Q&A for “Sr.” and an introduction for AMERICAN MOVIE at the Los Feliz 3 Saturday, December 10th.
