ABOUT THE SERIES: American Cinematheque at Caligari, a film series programmed by Caligari editor in chief Mauro Lukasievicz and filmmaker Lisandro Alonso in collaboration with the American Cinematheque at the Cine Gaumont in Buenos Aires, offers a journey through some of the most important works in film history. Bringing essential titles back into theatres for new audiences, each program features films that have shaped modern cinematic thought with introduction from critics and filmmakers in South America. “American Cinematheque at Caligari stems from a very simple idea: the films that defined the history of cinema don’t belong to the past; they remain essential for understanding the present and imagining the future.
