November 12 - November 28, 2025 Late Night, Late '80s Series | DEAD RINGERS, DIRTY DANCING, THE ‘BURBS, MYSTERY TRAIN, TIE ME UP! TIE ME DOWN!, BILL & TED’S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE, SOCIETY
ABOUT THE SERIES: Picture this: It’s 1989. Your mom just picked you up from school in her 1984 Buick Electra Station Wagon. You’re excited to tell her that you just received straight A’s on your report card. As a reward, she gives you two choices: bowling with your friends or a trip to Blockbuster to rent out a handful of films. Of course, as a burgeoning cinephile, you pick the trip to Blockbuster. As you’re walking down the musty aisles of the store, you look from side to side at your choices of films on VHS. On one side, you see comedies like THE ‘BURBS and BILL & TED’S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE. On the other, you see camp-y horror like DEAD RINGERS and SOCIETY. Your cool older brother, who you aspire to be like, heads over to the arthouse section and picks out MYSTERY TRAIN and TIE ME UP! TIE ME DOWN! Before checking out, your mom sees that week’s staff pick at the register: DIRTY DANCING. Of course, she picks it out. In the car ride back home, you and your brother argue about who gets to use the VCR first that evening. Your mom turns around and simply says, “Be excellent to each other.” Ah, the late ’80s were totally righteous, dude!
