Alexander Payne Inspirations on Film
Series | THE HOLDOVERS, SIDEWAYS, RIDE THE HIGH COUNTRY, PAPER MOON, THE FIREMAN’S BALL
Aero Theatre and Los Feliz 3

ABOUT THE SERIES:
The American Cinematheque is delighted to welcome renowned filmmaker Alexander Payne to the Aero Theatre for his new film, THE HOLDOVERS, in 35mm. Joining him is his long-time collaborator, acclaimed actor Paul Giamatti.
With its matted aspect ratio, Cat Stevens needle drops and overall 1970s sensibility, Payne’s latest film is an homage to New Hollywood-era films. To salute his inspirations, hand-picked by Payne himself, the American Cinematheque will screen Peter Bogdanovich’s depression-era comedy PAPER MOON, Sam Peckinpah’s classic western RIDE THE HIGH COUNTRY, and Miloš Forman’s Communist satire THE FIREMEN’S BALL, all in 35mm.
