November 5 - November 22, 2025 Michael B. Jordan: An American Cinematheque Retrospective Series | FRUITVALE STATION, CREED, JUST MERCY, BLACK PANTHER, SINNERS in 70mm
ABOUT THE SERIES: The American Cinematheque is delighted to welcome exceptional actor and filmmaker, and recipient of this year’s American Cinematheque Award, Michael B. Jordan, in-person for a special screening of SINNERS in 70mm, joined by writer, director and producer Ryan Coogler. Playing twins Smoke and Stack, Jordan deploys all the formidable skill and subtlety in his arsenal to deliver two distinct powerhouse performances. Join us as we look back at some of the precursors to this momentous modern critical and popular smash. A longtime collaborator of Coogler’s, this retrospective charts the course of Jordan’s rising star beginning with the first product of their alchemic combination, FRUITVALE STATION, resounding proof of Jordan’s sensitivity and power as an actor with a story to tell. Whether it be the son of a boxer with the weight of a legacy on his shoulders in CREED or an advocate for the voiceless in JUST MERCY, Jordan’s performances are deeply rooted in human vulnerability. Even as the embittered Killmonger in BLACK PANTHER, Jordan shows us that there is no hard exterior without something sensitive to protect.
