ABOUT THE FILM
Hal Ashby makes his directing debut with this acclaimed social satire starring Beau Bridges as Elgar, a man from a wealthy Long Island family who buys a Brooklyn tenement building with the intention of renovating it himself – only to change his plans after he gets to know the tenants. Lee Grant received an Oscar nomination for her role as Elgar’s mother.
