Your favorite anthology series is back with a belter of an episode that bravely ventures where no other anthology has ever ventured before—into the grimy world of shot-on-VHS horror movies of the 90’s, where anything and everything can happen!
Beginning with a police raid on a gang’s headquarters—where instead of the expected cache of drugs the SWAT team finds an unusual collection of V/H/S tapes—the film spins a number of amazing yarns based on urban legends, horror tropes, and idiotic Neo-Nazis, each of whom gets crazier, scarier and gorier than the last! Discover the legendary creature living in the sewers of the city, find out what happens when an employee has been left alone with a coffin in a funeral home, see the crazy experiments of a mad scientist in Indonesia, and finally, watch as a bunch of fascist idiots get their beautiful comeuppance.
Bringing together the collective talents of amazing auteurs such as Jennifer Reeder, Simon Barrett, Timo Tjahjanto, Chloe Okuno, and Ryan Prows, V/H/S/94 not only pays tribute to those discoveries many of us of a certain age made renting out the weird, wacky, and wonderful, but also crafts incredibly effective tales of terror that equally frightens and entertains.
Beyond Fest is delighted to pair the screening of the newest entry in our favourite series with a screening of the original V/H/S on 35mm, taking you back to where it all began. Settle in and get ready for the double-bill terror ride of a lifetime! – Evrim Ersoy
