ABOUT THE FILM: BROTHER marks Takeshi Kitano’s first and only American production. Kitano’s character leaves Japan suddenly after he learns of a hit on his own head. He flees to Los Angeles where he teams up with his half-brother (Claude Maki) and his partner (Omar Epps) to lead the drug ring they’ve set up in Little Tokyo, a suburb of L.A. seldom seen on screen. This also marks the first ever partnership between Kitano and legendary Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto who is responsible for the costume design.
