FOR HEAVEN’S SAKE, 1926, Dir. Sam Taylor, 58 Mins, UCLA Film and Television Archive, USA

In FOR HEAVEN’S SAKE (1926), Lloyd stars as J. Harold Manners, a carefree millionaire whose chance encounter with a young mission worker inspires him to become a better man, though not without leaving a trail of comic chaos behind him. What begins as a romantic comedy builds toward one of Lloyd’s most exhilarating finales, featuring an unforgettable runaway wedding procession through the streets of Los Angeles.

Produced during the height of Lloyd’s remarkable run of silent features, FOR HEAVEN’S SAKE perfectly showcases his unique screen persona: optimistic, resourceful and irresistibly likable. Combining spectacular stunt work with warmth, romance and genuine emotional sincerity, the film remains one of the comedian’s most satisfying achievements. Presented in its original tinted 35mm format, this special screening offers audiences the opportunity to experience Harold Lloyd’s work much as moviegoers did a century ago.

FORMAT: 35mm
