ABOUT THE FILMMAKER:

London-born Hugh Hudson (1936-2023) got his start in documentaries and commercials before moving to narrative features – his first of these, CHARIOTS OF FIRE, was met with major critical and commercial success. Hudson’s masterful use of period settings to tell stories with contemporary appeal was further underlined by such follow-ups as REVOLUTION, which starred Al Pacino as a trapper drawn into the Revolutionary War. Twenty years after its original release, the filmmaker revisited the drama, adding narration to create a version that The Observer proclaimed “should take its place among the great movies about history and about individual citizens living in times of dramatic social change.” In movie history, Hugh Hudson’s place is secure as one of the great ambassadors of British cinema.

ABOUT THE FILM:

Pulled into the early days of the American Revolution, Tom Dobb, a fur trapper played by Al Pacino, becomes convinced that he must help fight for the freedom of the Thirteen Colonies as he tries to avenge his son who was captured by the redcoats.
