Home / Now Showing / SPOOKTACULAR!
A wild, wonderful, and too-weird-to-be-anything-but-true story, SPOOKTACULAR! shines a light on America’s first (and foremost!) Halloween Theme Park and its spectacular, one-of-a-kind founder David Bertolino – whose meteoric rise saw him going from salesman to impresario.
Featuring a vast array of interviews from the entire gamut of horror history—including Tom Savini, Kane Hodder, and Tiny Tim—this superb documentary explores the dream of one man tapping into the vast consciousness of a generation, inspiring them, scaring them, and in the interim paving the way for the enormous amount of Halloween creations to come.
Filled with scandals, hullabaloo, and a heartfelt look into the lives of the many actors and workers who came through the park, Monahan’s film displays the best qualities of documentary filmmaking—sensitive, thorough, and entertaining. It’ll have you rushing to the nearest Halloween theme park as soon as the credits stop rolling.
