An unlikely love story from the director of the dread-filled ANTENNA, THE FUNERAL is the zombie genre turned on its head by director Orçun Behram. 40-year-old Cemal is a lonely hearse driver who is blackmailed into doing a secret job, transporting the body of a young woman to her family. Suitably disturbed, he starts on the long journey but before long discovers a dreadful truth: the girl, Zeynep, is not really dead, and what’s worse, needs human flesh to survive. Soon the duo are on a bloody road trip that’ll take them into the very heart of darkness. Both inventive and frightening, this unusual film takes the audience straight through the heart of Turkey, through empty towns and abandoned motels, and into the very mouth of hell.
