Cinema Italian Style 2021

Co-presented by Cinecittà and the American Cinematheque, with the support of the Italian Ministry of Culture – Cinema Department and the Italian Cultural Institutes of Los Angeles under the auspices of the Consulate General of Italy in Los Angeles, in collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency of Los Angeles.

About the Event

We’re pleased to welcome viewers in Los Angeles and San Francisco to this virtual edition of our annual celebration of Italian cinema! From crowd-pleasing comedy (LIKE A CAT ON A HIGHWAY 2) to crime thriller (BLUE EYES) to family drama (THE MACALUSO SISTERS), there’s a little something for everyone on offer. This year’s documentary selection is as strong as the narrative features, including profiles of famed musician Ezio Bosso and propagandist cameraman Alfredo Cecchetti as well as FUTURA, a multifaceted portrait of Italian young people. The 2021 edition of Cinema Italian Style also includes in-person screenings in L.A. of Giuseppe Tornatore’s new film about composer Ennio Morricone and Paolo Sorrentino’s THE HAND OF GOD; the master filmmaker will join us for a Q&A at a double feature of the coming-of-age drama and his earlier THE GREAT BEAUTY.

All films are in Italian with English subtitles, unless otherwise noted. Series compiled by Laura Delli Colli and Camilla Cormanni.
