ABOUT THE SERIES: It is with a heavy heart that the American Cinematheque pays tribute to the great filmmaker Ted Kotcheff. Director of many genre films, Kotcheff exhilarated audiences with absurd comedies such as WEEKEND AT BERNIE’S and FUN WITH DICK AND JANE and suspenseful thrillers such as WAKE IN FRIGHT. Perhaps most memorably, Kotcheff’s iconoclastic action film, FIRST BLOOD, subverts genre conventions to comment on the fears and anxieties present in America following the Vietnam War.
