ABOUT THE SERIES: The American Cinematheque is delighted to showcase the select works of filmmaker Aki Kaurismäki in celebration of his latest Cannes Jury Prize-winning FALLEN LEAVES. Kaurismäki’s deadpan wit and sharp image making skills, have made him a singular voice in Finnish cinema – namely, his lifelong dedication to the stories, art, and cultural nuances of the Finnish working class. Aki’s “Proletariat Trilogy,” including SHADOWS IN PARADISE, ARIEL, and THE MATCH FACTORY GIRL has expanded with this year’s FALLEN LEAVES. We are thrilled to have actor Alma Pöysti join us at the Aero Theatre for a Q&A following the film.
