April 19 - April 26, 2025 INT. MOVIE THEATRE - Eleanor Perry Series | THE SWIMMER, DAVID AND LISA, LADYBUG LADYBUG, DIARY OF A MAD HOUSEWIFE
ABOUT THE SERIES: In our next edition of our ongoing series INT. MOVIE THEATRE which celebrates the craft of screenwriting, we are paying tribute to the work of acclaimed screenwriter Eleanor Perry. Perry was a master of adaptation and a sharp observer of human nature, crafting some of the most thought-provoking and emotionally resonant screenplays of the 1960s and ’70s. Her collaborations with director (and then-husband) Frank Perry yielded a series of striking films, including DAVID AND LISA and LADYBUG LADYBUG, both pushing boundaries on representing the human condition. She continued this work with two brilliant adaptions: THE SWIMMER, a haunting, surreal take on upper-middle-class American life, and DIARY OF A MAD HOUSEWIFE, a searing feminist satire. A fearless and feminist writer who championed complex characters and unconventional narratives, we are proud to spotlight Perry’s work and legacy as one who sought to challenge, provoke, and illuminate.
