The American Cinematheque is thrilled to welcome world-renowned filmmaker Michael Mann for his new film, FERRARI and the commemorative edition of his landmark film ALI at the Aero Theatre and his epic crime saga HEAT at the Egyptian Theatre. Mann, a distinguished director, screenwriter, and producer, stands as one of the most innovative and influential figures in American cinema. Boasting a remarkable career, he is a four-time Academy Award nominee, two-time Emmy winner, and recipient of WGA, DGA, and BAFTA Awards for his multifaceted contributions to the industry.
Mann’s impactful work spans from the Emmy-winning television movie THE JERICHO MILE to executive producing renowned series like MIAMI VICE and CRIME STORY. His feature film directorial debut, THIEF, set the stage for an exceptional filmography that includes notable works such as MANHUNTER, HEAT, THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS, THE INSIDER and ALI, as well as COLLATERAL, which has been added to the tribute due to popular demand.
