ABOUT THE SERIES: Women Wednesday is BACK! As part of our ongoing programming dedicated to uplifting and celebrating the work of femmes in film, the American Cinematheque is proud to present a fourth edition of our annual mini-festival Women Wednesday, celebrating new, fresh and exciting directorial debuts from women directors. Every Wednesday in March, join us for screenings and Q&As at the Los Feliz 3 Theatre in celebration of Women’s History Month. This year’s Women Wednesday opens with Nastasya Popov’s IDIOTKA, a sharp and darkly funny portrait of self-reinvention, followed by an in-person conversation with the filmmaker. The second week features Julie Pacino’s I LIVE HERE NOW, presented in a special 35mm screening, alongside Amy Wang’s SXSW Award-Winning SLANTED, a bold and incisive exploration of culture, ambition and perception. Week three features two from The Future of Film is Female: Yana Alliata’s REELING exploring grief and memory, and Megan Seely’s joyously twisted dark comedy PUDDYSTICKS. The fest concludes with the daring and intimate BUNNYLOVR, written by and starring Katarina Zhu. This year also features two installments of the Women Wednesday Night of Shorts, spotlighting exciting new work from emerging filmmakers and celebrating the next generation of women directors. This festival is co-presented by community partners Alliance of Women Directors, Women in Film, Not Your Daddy’s Films, The Reel Champion, Film Fatales and The Future of Film is Female.
