ABOUT THE SERIES: The American Cinematheque is thrilled to welcome the four-time Academy Award-nominated actor and producer Timothée Chalamet for an in-person, eight-film retrospective celebrating his latest film, MARTY SUPREME, poised to be A24’s highest-grossing film, alongside a selection of defining performances from his extraordinary career. In the spirit of the film’s singular vision, we celebrate a modern-day luminary whose artistry has made him the youngest male actor to ever receive three Academy Award acting nominations and whose films have collectively grossed $3 billion worldwide. Join us as we trace Chalamet’s remarkable trajectory, from early, independent breakthroughs to era-defining box-office juggernauts, landing firmly among the stars. The retrospective features in-person conversations with Timothée Chalamet for A COMPLETE UNKNOWN, DUNE, DUNE: PART TWO in 70mm, INTERSTELLAR in IMAX 70mm, THE KING and BEAUTIFUL BOY with special guests including Christopher Nolan, Denis Villeneuve, Elle Fanning and Edward Norton. Plus a special screening of CALL ME BY YOUR NAME featuring an in-person Q&A with Timothée Chalamet, moderated by Zane Lowe, in partnership with Cinespia at Los Angeles Theatre. With MARTY SUPREME, Timothée Chalamet arrives at a pivotal moment in an already distinguished career. The film opened to $10.8 million domestically on its first day — the largest opening day in the history of A24 — and will soon surpass $150 million at the global box office, all while earning nine Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actor. For his performance, Chalamet recently received both the Golden Globe Award and the Critics Choice Award. His breakthrough performance in CALL ME BY YOUR NAME marked his arrival as a major screen talent, earning his first Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. In A COMPLETE UNKNOWN, he delivers a finely observed portrait of Bob Dylan, earning his second nomination in the category. Performances in THE KING and BEAUTIFUL BOY further demonstrate his command of classical material and emotional precision. Across these projects, Chalamet has collaborated with filmmakers including Luca Guadagnino, Christopher Nolan, Denis Villeneuve, Greta Gerwig, James Mangold, Wes Anderson and Josh Safdie. His progression from Paul Atreides to Muad’Dib across DUNE and DUNE: PART TWO, with DUNE: PART THREE slated for release later this year, reflects a carefully modulated performance within epic storytelling. Thank you to Cinespia, our presenting partner at Los Angeles Theatre.
