ABOUT THE FILM Five hundred years in the future, climate change has melted the polar ice caps and put virtually all of Earth underwater; humanity clings to life on huge floating atolls. Enter The Mariner (Kevin Costner), a mutated, Mad Max-esque drifter spurred to action when a gang of pirates led by The Deacon (Dennis Hopper) attacks an atoll to capture a girl (Tina Majorino) who could lead them to the last remaining dry land.
